Premieship Betting - Fulham v Aston Villa.

Fulham v Aston Villa - Bet Preview

Thirteenth meets fourteenth as Villa head down south to Craven Cottage. Separated only by goal difference alone, the pairing are also equal on season wins and draws – 7 and 10 alike. And with their 45 league game history shared exactly – 15 Fulham wins, 15 Villa victories and 15 stalemates – betting odds have this tie down as almost too close to call.

Neither team has enjoyed the best of seasons and could still feasibly be sucked into a relegation battle,

Villa though did make an impressive start, remaining unbeaten in their first nine league games. But the good form soon trailed off and they suffered a far from merry Christmas period going without a win from eleven.

Fulham have had a tempestuous season and have been unable to find any consistency to their gameplay. They have only won one league game in the last eleven, although they have proved more successful in the FA Cup defeating Championship opponents Leicester and Stoke before eventually succumbing to Tottenham.

Recent ties between the two have further confirmed their similarities with all of the last four meets ending in a deadlock. But with the looming fear of a potential relegation scuffle, both teams are desperate for all three points.

Boasting precious home advantage, Fulham look to extend Villa’s appalling away record. With only one away victory to celebrate all season, Villa seem are unsteady and unable to hold their own when on unfamiliar territory. But with their last match over two weeks ago, they can at least enter in with fresh legs and rejuvenated batteries.

Fulham, as expected, are more comfortable when on home turf with five of their seven league wins coming at The Cottage. But although wins have been hard to come by this year, Fulham have not had too many goalless encounters.

Villa similar seem to have the ability up front to knock them in but have a recurring tendency to concede leads, including the October meet against Fulham. England international Gareth Barry put The Villans ahead, converting a 26-minute penalty. But despair hit Villa Park as Fulham’s Volz cancelled out the advantage in first half injury time.

Fulham too seem feeble in defence, having kept only five clean sheets against fellow Premiership opposition. So from the looks of it, this fray will be more about the defence errors than attacking spurts.

With such defence miseries, neither team can take any encouragement from their previous matches as both enter in on the back of defeats.

Villa were on the road again, this time to the Madejski Stadium home of promotion flyers, Reading and once again failed to come away with anything from their travels.

Fulham despite having home advantaged could not faze league leaders Manchester United. They do however take some solace from the fact they were able to break down the red brick wall of United’s defence on one occasion.

With three points critical for their Premiership survivals, both should be raged and ready for action. You can bet your lives on another gritted bottom half clash where elegance and flair are replaced by British bulldog spirit and the determined passion to secure top tier football for another season. Hard to decide on the betting angles.
